Florence Hays Erb (Florrie)

Florrie was an outstanding mother, lover, entrepreneur, and world traveler. She was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 1999 by Dr. Buck Burson. He detected it on a chest x-ray. Usually by the time it shows up on a chest x-ray, it is too late. The best answer is the 64 slice CT scan (soon to be 256 slice) that is low radiation, quick, and painless. Dr. John Moore operated immediately and removed one lobe of her lung. She underwent radiation with Dr. Nancy Wiggers and Chemo with Dr. Daniel Dubovsky. The cancer reappeared in 2002, and Dr. Moore removed the remaining part of her left lung. It came back in 2004 and she underwent chemo for an extended period.
Florrie loved her family, her business, and travel. She founded Fame Fabrics, Inc. in 1972 to manufacture uniforms by the cut and sew method. There are now facilities in Georgia, Salvador, Taiwan, and China. She kept her bag packed and traveled most of the world. Her favorites were the animals of Africa and the lake district of Italy.
